  • Across the road from where we stay is the Safehouse. There are currently 17 girls who are living there due to running away from their homes because of forced early marriage or the threat of FGM. They are protected and loved in this community who has taken a stand against both traditions in the Maasai culture. Education is the most powerful weapon and these girls are the bravest I’ve ever seen. They are laser focused on improving their lives despite the hardship of having to run away from their family. We spend a lot of time with these girls and especially love their singing and dancing……regal is the only way to describe it. They are our heroes.
