SHAFFER GOES TO KENYA 2012!!

Getting Ready to Go!

SHAFFER GOES TO KENYA 2012!!

Well, this is the beginning of a very exciting journey.  Shaffer kids collected over 80 bags filled with school supplies, flip-flops, and t-shirts.  Over $800 was collected to provide school uniforms for Ronesa’s children, and help pay their school fees. The team has all their shots, malaria pills in hand, and several suitcases to fill.  We are ready to go!  I will start my journey on June 12th with our PTA president, Andrea Bratis.  Mrs. Gardner and our husbands will then join me for a few weeks toward the end of June, and then in mid-July our former PTA President, Erik Phillips and his entire family will join me to teach for a few days at our school in Maasailand.  We have so much to look forward to!  I will return home on July 19th, but will plan on updating the blogsight every week………or when I find electricity, whichever comes first. :>)

We are going physically, but know that a piece of all of you goes with us! Thank you for your support and giving to our sister school RONESA!  You are literally changing the lives of so many children and their families.  The Power of One goes a long way in Africa!

Above, this is my 4th grade class holding the many bags collected for our sister school, Ronesa!

Until the next blog!
Julie Manuel
